SUMMARY: If you're connecting to C&P using a 64-bit Windows OS, this tech note will help you set up your DSN connection using the 32-bit ODBC drivers provided in your Windows Operating System. Applies to users of Microsoft SQL Server or SQL Server Express.

Clients & Profits is a 32-bit application. Because of this, it cannot fuction properly when using 64-bit drivers, which are used by default by 64-bit operating systems. To get around this issue, when you are connecting to a Clients & Profits database via ODBC on a 64-bit OS such as Vista x64, Windows 7 x64, Windows 2008 Server x64 or Windows Server 2003 x64, you must setup your DSN connection using the 32-bit ODBC drivers provided in your Windows Operating System.

By default windows will use the 64-bit odbc drivers, which can be found here:
Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools



Double-clicking on the Data Sources (ODBC) panel will display the 64-bit ODBC drivers information.



You will need to use 32-bit odbc drivers, which can be found here:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32



You can see the difference by looking at the drivers table of the odbc manager.



In the 64-bit version of your Windows OS, you will only see the SQLServer driver. In the 32-bit version you will see a full list of odbc drivers.
