We're looking for an experienced Traffic Manager and Production Artist. Does anyone have copy that you've used successfully in classified ads (for either of these positions, or others), and that you'd be willing to share? Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't have any ad copy because I sort of morphed into the Production Manager/Production Artist, but I'll offer any advice I can...
The qualities that I possess that help me the most are:
? understanding of the advertising/communications field ? attention to detail (extremely important!) ? knowledge of proofreading (as the production manager, I'm often one of the last people to look at things, so I generally take the responsibility of making sure things have been proofread, and/or proofing them myself) ? general familiarity with Quark, Freehand, Clients & Profits, etc. ? ability to forecast production schedules ? ability to track budgets against time spent ? a willingness to be adaptable since you are the one who gets yanked around the most :) ? patience (!) and people skills because you are generally the "go-between," which is a sensitive spot to be in ? team-oriented ? general management skills, which come in handy frequently, not only in handling jobs, but also in handling people
Of course, my job is a combination of artist and traffic, so you can pull from the above list for either position.

We have never advertised for either a traffic or production manager in the paper. However, if you have strong relationships with your printing/engraving vendors, let them know (if it won't compromise you). They are an amazing source of knowledge in the industry. they know people that are good, and if they are unhappy. We got both our current traffic and production people that way, and they are terrific. Good luck on your search.
p.s. we are looking for 2 A.E.'s. Probably about 2 to 3 years experience in the business. If anybody knows anybody.
