Starting A New Database

11:17am May 30, 2001 PST (#1 of 5)

We have input the table of accounts, tax, clients, vendors, tasks, production and billing status, members and billing. We are wanting to start using the software by June. Do I have enough info inputted and should I only add new jobs? Thanks

I would recommend you take a look at the Getting Started section of our web site. There's a document there that includes the info you're looking for - what to add, what to do first, next, etc.

Thanks!

We started using C&P Jan 1, 2001. We input all existing jobs with a start date of 1/1/01 (Sunday). New jobs were opened with 1/2/01. We did not enter time or costs on existing jobs. You don't get an accurate profitability picture on existing jobs but it worked for us.

Good luck.

The information that you have listed is fine to start using C&P. One other thing that you might want to add is your staff member's billing rates.

When our organization first started using C&P we found it helpful to enter all currently active job tickets into C&P. This allowed us to set a date to start using C&P without having to go back and forth between two systems until the current jobs were completed.

It sounds like you are doing a good job at preparing for the transition. The only general omissions that I see are set-ups for staff, user access, job types, templates and milestones. C&P will allow you to add or change things as your needs change. Expect to go through an adjustment period while you address your own unique situation.
