Closing the

Year-End
Closing Timeline: Closing
day
First, back up your C&P X database: Make
a permanent backup of the current year's database on a
CD, Zip, Jaz, Syquest, or other kind of drive or tape.
You may need to refer to a previous year's journal entries
some time in the future, so having a permanent (and easily
accessible) backup is handy. Make sure that the disc or
tape is clearly labeled and states to not erase the data
on it under any circumstance.
How long the close year process
will take depends on your speed of your hardware and the
size of your database, so there's no way to know for sure.
To be safe, it's best to run the close-year utility overnight
(or even over a weekend if you have a 100mb+ database).
REMEMBER! - No one can use the database
during the close year process. Also, be sure to disable any
screen savers, automatic backups, or other processes that
can interrupt the year-end closing.
Now you're ready to run the year-end
closing procedure...
